Dear Friends,
This August marks eight years
since we decided to form The Music Therapy Project Inc.
We started with the simple
goal of bringing music therapy to what we believed to be an
under-represented population.
As we contacted the many non-profit
providers that were serving children and adults with special needs, we
realized that our
assumptions were correct. In our first few years we
built solid partnerships with a handful of organizations that were
interested
in what the creative arts could do for the people they serve.
Today we are pleased to continue those relationships and a good
many
more throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and soon Westchester
County.
We are proud of our
charitable efforts and the early work we did with the Make A Wish
Foundation, and most importantly the
work we are doing now with Feel
Better Kids Inc. Over a four year period our Jazz Cocktail Fund Raising
events provided a
network for musicians and non-profit workers, and
enabled us to make significant contributions to programs like Life’s WORC,
The Floating Hospital, and Feel Better Kids.
Our business goals like our
music goals have followed a simple path; Quality, Integrity, and,
Support. This coming fall we will be
partnering with the Westchester
Creative Arts Therapy Project, to open a Saturday program at a brand new
facility in Yonkers.
We look to serve many children and young adults in
need in the Bronx, Westchester County, and neighboring areas. As we
bring
the Creative Arts Therapies to more and more people we want to
express our gratitude to all the therapists and our staff who have
worked with us, all the non-profit administrators who believe in the
arts, and all the families, children, and adults, who have shared
music
with us for the past eight years.
Sincere thanks,
Elizabeth Balzano & Michael
